The Calstock Arts Community Interest Company was formed in April 2009 specifically to run the Old Chapel, Calstock, as a community arts centre. Community Interest Companies (CICs) were introduced in 2004, so that organizations wishing to serve the community could form an official, regulated body with the capacity and governance to manage public funds, without the need to register as a charity. CACIC is currently administered by a board of 6 directors. The company number is 06881587.

The CACIC was offered the Old Chapel by the Trustees of Peterloo Poets, a registered charity which, under the helm of Harry and Lyn Chambers, had raised a large amount of Arts / Lottery funding to restore the building. Peterloo used the building as a publishing house and warehouse, as well as a venue for poetry readings and other artistic events. Its current role as an arts centre is a continuation of the purpose for which the restoration and conversion funding was granted.
